NEWSLETTERS
What does the Vetting and Barring Scheme mean? From 12th October 2009 anyone working or volunteering in a ‘Regulated Activity’, which involves frequent contact with children or vulnerable adults will be eligible for an Enhanced CRB Disclosure. The existing application forms can be used until July 2010. Individuals already working with children or vulnerable adults will be given up to five years to ensure they are registered with the Independent Safeguarding Authority. It is expected that existing employees and volunteers will start to apply from 2011, starting with those with the oldest CRB Disclosures. From July 2010 individuals applying to work with children or vulnerable adults will be able to register with the Independent Safeguarding Authority at the same time as they apply for an Enhanced CRB Disclosure. From November 2010 individuals applying to work with children or vulnerable adults will be required to register with the Independent Safeguarding Authority at the same time as they apply for an Enhanced CRB Disclosure. From November 2010 employers will be legally bound to check and confirm that individuals employed in a regulated activity are registered with the ISA. Registration with the ISA is only carried out once and there is a charge of £28 for this. Volunteers do not have to pay this registration fee. Criminal Records Bureau charge £36 for an Enhanced Disclosures, volunteers do not pay anything. Playgroup Network is an Umbrella Body and carries out the Enhanced Disclosure requests on behalf of employers, our charges for this are currently £9.50 (non members), £3.00 (members).
